A Northport husband and wife who were married 61 years both died of the coronavirus, six days apart.
William Henry “Bill” Thomas died May 1 while his wife, Anita V. Thomas, died May 7.
Both served as teachers for years; he taught middle school science and health in the South Huntington School District for 33 years and served as president of the teachers’ union. She taught special education students in kindergarten through sixth grade for years.
A funeral procession will be scheduled in the near future, starting at Nolan Funeral Home on Laurel Avenue and ending at Northport Rural Cemetery. A celebration of their lives will be planned for the future.
