A Northport resident was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a truck in Smithtown, Suffolk County police said.
Pedestrian Carmine Mandarano, 66, was in the westbound lane on Main Street about 2:30 p.m. when he was struck by a Dodge pickup truck turning onto Main Street from Lawrence Avenue.
Mandarano of Northport was transported via Smithtown Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, Richard O’Connor, 23, of Kings Park, was not injured.
The Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Fourth precinct detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
