Northport School Voters to Consider Budget, 3 Trustees

With concerns about LIPA’s tax fight and its possible impact on the school district  looming in the background, Northport voters head to the polls Tuesday to decide on a budget and to fill three seats on the school board.

The budget reflects an increase of 2.56% and a tax levy increase of 2.56%, within the state cap. Spending would go from  $171,077,668, a 2.56 percent increase from the current $166,810,381, while the tax levy would go from a  2.56 percent increase, from $145,977,791 to $149,717,642.

Incumbent Allison  Noonan is seeking re-election, while fellow board members  Lori McCue and Andrew Rapiejko will be departing the board, making way for candidates Thomas Loughran and Larry Licopoli.

Voting runs from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., at three schools: Fifth Avenue Elementary, Dickinson Avenue Elementary and the William J. Brosnan school.
