NYU Langone Adds Third Covid-19 Vaccine

The third Covid-19 vaccine has arrived at NYU Langone, the healthcare group  said Thursday.

The Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine, along with the Pfizer–BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, is now available to its patients.

The organization notes that patients will not be able to choose the type of vaccination that they receive, but NYU Langone is encouraging its eligible patients to get vaccinated.

“All three vaccines are extremely effective in protecting you against the most serious outcomes from COVID-19, including severe illness, hospitalization, and death. The mild side effects that some people experience after being vaccinated, such as headache and fatigue, are also very similar among the vaccines,” it said.

More information about vaccine effectiveness is available from the CDC and NYU Langone experts.

“We understand that you might be frustrated and we are frustrated too that we haven’t received large amounts of vaccine—and that we have not been able to offer the vaccine to each and every one of our eligible patients. We want to help make sure that our eligible patients are vaccinated as soon as possible. If you are eligible and haven’t received a message from us about scheduling your vaccination appointment at NYU Langone, we encourage you to check availability at the New York State vaccination sites, through the New York City vaccine finder, or a pharmacy.”

It asked patients not to call them for an appointment.
