Oakwood Primary Center in the South Huntington school district will close Tuesday after a staff member had a positive result to a Covid-19 test.
Dr. David Bennardo, district superintendent, told the school community Monday evening that a bus monitor had greeted many students and often helped place them in front of temperature screen. “The Health Department does not see a serious threat of concern here, but my feeling as a parent is that we take advantage of the holiday schedule, take a one-day pass tomorrow, and use the opportunity to make sure that we trace and clean one more time and ensure that there is nothing other than meets the eye with these initial screenings.”
A student at Walt Whitman HIgh School also tested positive over the weekend, but the school will remain open.
