Officer’s Wake and Funeral Could Affect Town Services

Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci said Saturday that the wake Monday and funeral Tuesday for NYPD Officer Anastasios Tsakos could affect some town services.

The officer, a resident of East Northport, was killed Tuesday in Queens by a woman who was accused of driving drunk.

The services are both scheduled for St. Paraskevi Church on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn.

The town said to keep in mind:

Pulaski Road between Broadway and Stony Hollow Road in Greenlawn will be closed starting Tuesday from approximately 7:30am through approximately 1 pm for the NYPD funeral service and procession from the road closure area to the burial site. The closure may extend to Pulaski Road and Elwood Road if necessary.

Avoid the area if possible.

Heavy traffic is also expected Monday for the viewing and may affect the following:

Tuesday residential trash pickup may be affected if the refuse trucks cannot access a street. If your collection is missed, you may place twice the allowable amount curbside on your next scheduled collection day of the week.

Expect delays Monday and Tuesday on HART Bus Fixed Route service H10 and H30 routes due to necessary detours.

Affected HART Paratransit service along the route will be rescheduled individually.

Tuesday Senior Meal Delivery Service will begin at 2 PM.
