A wildlife group said Friday that it had rescued a Great Horned Owl that was entangled in a soccer net at Lloyd Harbor School.
On Facebook, Volunteers for Wildlife- Wildlife Hospital & Education Center said the officers of the Lloyd Harbor Police Department had alerted to them to the bird’s predicament.
“She was badly tangled by the rope net on her right foot and wing. She was fortunate to be spotted in time, especially since school is not in session this week,” the group said. “The wing is badly bruised along her radius, ulna and carpal joint (wrist) but we are hopeful for a full recovery.”
The group thanked the police department for alerting them to the owl’s plight.
The organization is based in Locust Valley.
