Parade and Fair Celebrate Huntington Awareness Day

School and community leaders led a celebration  Saturday of Huntington’s diversity, unity and solidarity with Huntington Awareness Day-Unity Festival.

A parade featuring school bands, veterans, religious organizations, step dancers, political officials, Cub Scouts and many more moved down Oakwood Road from Huntington High School to Stimson Middle School and a fair.

Educators and students from Harborfields, Elwood, South Huntington, Huntington and Northport school districts were recognized.

Set up at the fair were health organizations, karate teachers, Brett’s Bicycle Recycle, political candidates, community organizations, summer camps and other groups.

Dee Thompson and Dr. David Bennardo, superintendent of the South Huntington school district, chaired the event, with Willie Perez serving as grand marshal.
