Parade to Go on, but Forecast Cancels Other Holiday Events

Huntington’’s 9th Annual Holiday Parade and tree lighting will go on, rain or shine,Saturday, but due to the weather forecast, the Wall Street Festival and other planned activities have been cancelled. 

“Bring your umbrellas and join us for the Huntington Holiday Parade,” Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci said.

Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Tree Lighting Ceremony, performances include those by the America’s Got Talent finalist, the Huntington Chamber Choir and others.

The parade will include competitions for the best floats in several categories, with judging based on how well they follow the theme of the parade, “Winter Wonderland.” The friendly competition among fire departments is particularly fierce, because the winning department gets to choose who will play Santa Claus in the 2019 paradeM

Roads will be temporarily closed from approximately 4:45 PM, with the parade kicking off at 5:30pm, at the Big H Shopping Center going north on New York Avenue, west on Main Street/25A, north on West Neck Road, east on Gerard Street, ending at Wall Street with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Roads to reopen after parade passes. 

Free parking will be available in all metered spots in Huntington Village. Free parking will also be available at the Huntington LIRR Train Station with a convenient free HART Bus shuttle into the village from 3:00 PM to 9 pm.  Qwik Ride will offer free rides around the village.
