Town to Purchase Bank Property, Convert to Parking Lot

The Town is planning to add parking spaces by spending up to $3 .05 million to purchase  property at Gerard Street and New York Avenue.

Now occupied by a closed Chase bank branch, the property is expected to allow for about 71 new spots, including three designated as handicapped slots, to a downtown hungry for more parking spaces.

The town will tear down the bank when the purchase is complete.

The Town Board approved the purchase at its May 29 meeting.
