The family of a teacher killed at the Parkland school attack last year will be honored Sunday by the New York Mets.
The pre-game ceremony will honor the Dix Hills couple, Linda Beigel Schulman and her husband, Michael Schulman, for their fundraising efforts to send underprivileged kids to sleepaway camp this past summer.
Scott Beigel, a teacher and a coach, was killed with 16 others when a former student attacked Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school. Because of his devotion to children and camps, the Schulmans have focused on summer camps and through its foundation, the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund, raised funds to allow 54 children to attend sleepaway camp.
Those 54 campers and their families, along with staff members from Camp Junior, Camp Fiver and Camp Herrlich, are invited guests of the New York Mets.
