Partnership to Provide Pediatric Urgent Care in East Northport

The  Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care center  at 4199 Jericho Turnpike will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will be staffed by board-certified pediatricians trained in Cohen Children’s protocols and procedures.  The center is also integrated with Northwell Health’s and Cohen Children’s electronic health records and will accept most major insurance plans, Northwell Health said.

The Cohen Children’s Medical Center  and Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care will  focus  on infants, children and adolescents, serve as a child-friendly alternative to costlier, more time-consuming emergency room visits for non-life-threatening injuries.

A second center will also open Friday in Hewlett.

The center will focus  on infants, children and adolescents and serve as a child-friendly alternative to costlier, more time-consuming emergency room visits for non-life-threatening injuries like ear infections, fever, diarrhea, burns, cuts, bladder infections, colds, coughs or asthma.

“As a leader in pediatric care, our patients now have the option to visit Cohen Children’s Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers to receive the highest-quality pediatric care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, particularly those that happen unexpectedly or outside of regular business hours,” said Charles Schleien, MD, executive director of Cohen Children’s Medical Center, and senior vice president, executive director and chair of pediatric services at Northwell Health. “We are pleased to bring best-in-class pediatric urgent care to the Five Towns and East Northport communities.”

The new pediatric urgent care centers feature large exam rooms to accommodate strollers and siblings, child-sized rest rooms, germ-free entertainment tablets, and comforting colors and accents proven to help reduce anxiety in children.

“This partnership combines Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s pediatric expertise with Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care’s leadership in urgent care to address the need for greater pediatric care options close to home,” said Adam Boll, vice president of operations at Northwell Ventures. “We look forward to serving the families of Five Towns and East Northport in settings that are designed to welcome our youngest patients.”

For the 12th consecutive year, Cohen Children’s Medical Center was ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report, earning top 50 national rankings for exceptional care in eight pediatric specialties – more than any other hospital on Long Island or Queens.
