A man walking across Pinelawn Road in Melville was struck and killed by a car early Friday morning.
The pedestrian, William Brady, 25, of Melville, was struck by a 2009 Toyota Rav 4 at approximately 4 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Classmates said he graduated from Walt Whitman High School in 2011.
The driver of the Toyota, Roger Melendez, 52, of Lindenhurst, and his passenger, Nancy Macedo, 49, were not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
Suffolk County Second Precinct detectives are investigating the fatality.
