Pedestrian Seriously Injured on New York Avenue

A pedestrian crossing New York Avenue just south of Pulaski Road was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Wednesday morning.

The 27-year-old man was crossing from west to east when he was hit by a southbound 2005 Chevy pickup truck. The man, who was not immediately identified, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of a serious leg injury. A second man was also hit but was not injured, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Patrick Anderson, 31, of Huntington Station was not injured.

The Chevrolet was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
