The Pieceful Quilting shop in East Northport is closing as its owner plans to retire upstate.
Owner Angela Veeck has operated the business for 13 years. She said, ““The quilting and retail industry has changed dramatically over the years. Especially since the onset of Covid 19. We were able to remain open during the worst part of the pandemic but had to pivot and rely on our internet base,” said Ms. Veeck. “Now we are essentially running two businesses, one brick and mortar and one internet based.” Once the pandemic hit, many customers became used to shopping online. The competition of the world wide web is overwhelming to an establishment working in a niche market like quilting.”
She said she plans to spend her retirement doing the things she enjoys, including, “sewing and quilting. Unbelievably, the quilt shop owner has little time to quilt and sew.”
The shop at 3027 Jericho Turnpike will close once the inventory is gone.
