Playground Reopens at Crab Meadow Beach

A rebuilt playground is up and running at Frank Petrone Crab Meadow Beach, complete  with new amenities designed to help everyone have full access.

Town spokeswoman Christine Geed said that, using Environmental Open Space & Park Fund money, the rebuild cost about $275,000 with a second phase to come, including the addition of swing sets.

Online games, mazes and an opportunity to learn Braille are attached to the equipment.

For a generation of children raised to read times only in digital format, there’s a display that connects phrases such as “half past three” to the display 3:30, or “quarter to one” to the number 12:45.

The first phase work was completed last week, just in time for this week’s hot weather and the end of school.
