Police Check and Install Car Seats for Children’s Safety

Suffolk police inspected and installed car seats Saturday for families in Huntington Station.

Acting Police Commissioner Stuart Cameron stopped by the operation at Huntington Manor Fire Department, where officers inspected the seats  for damage, correct fit  for their occupants, and proper installation. They also provided new ones where needed.

Because of high demand, the department plans to schedule another safety check in the fall.

Funding was provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

The NHTSA has numerous tips on finding the proper car seat based on the model of the car, and the proper size and fit for a child.
