Police Invite Residents to Register Cameras

Suffolk police are asking residents to register their video surveillance cameras with the department to help fight crime.

The department said registration would not give it access to the cameras but it would be able to ask residents to check their cameras for specific dates and times of videos to capture a suspect, getaway car or a crime. If a resident finds evidence, they could notify the department of the video which could then be retrieved when the camera owner wanted to provide it.
Registration can be done on the SCPD website:  https://suffolkpd.org/Home.aspx
