Police Officer Rescues Boater Who Fell Into Water

A Bavyille man who fell into the water off Cold Spring Harbor State Park was rescued Wednesday morning.

Suffolk Police said Second Precinct Police Officer Christopher Jablonski responded to a 911 call about a man who fell in the water from a boat off Cold Spring Harbor State Park at approximately 8:50 a.m. He jumped into a small boat on shore and used his arms to paddle out to Erik Holm, who was in neck deep water. Holm clung to the boat and Jablonski jumped into the water and used a rope to help pull him and the boat back to shore.

Holm, 43, of Bayville, was taken to Huntington Hospital by Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department ambulance.
