Press Club to Celebrate Walt Whitman at Benefit to Slain Journalists

The Press Club of Long Island will celebrate the life of Walt Whitman with a poetry reading at the farmhouse that was his birthplace.

Participants in this first-ever event can read their original poetry or the work of any other favorite poet, or just sit back and enjoy. The event will be open to the public. Wine and cheese will be served.

In memory of the five Capital Gazette staffers murdered on June 28, proceeds from the reading will go to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Original poetry that is read will be published on various websites, including pcli.org and liherald.com.
