The Huntington Township Housing Coalition has scheduled a public forum on June 7 to discuss Matinecock Court, a decades-old plan for affordable housing in East Northport.
The online forum will start at 7 PM, and the coalition will post a link the day before the forum.
The project planned for the intersection of Pulaski Rd and Elwood Road in East Northport, has been a contentious idea for years. Last week the developer told a forum that all units would be Co-op units only and not rentals.
The project to provide affordable housing on the site was first proposed in 1978.
Housing Help Inc. owns the site. The project has been opposed on several grounds, including traffic and the potential impact on the Northport school district.
Online debate about the project has centered on the issue of “limited equity cooperative” with opponents claiming the units would actually be rental units.
