Assemb. Andrew Raia, R,C,I,Ref-East Northport, has announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is accepting applications for four $3,500 scholarships to be awarded on June 3 at its annual Conference Weekend. Scholarship winners must be present to receive their awards.
“Given the rising costs of college, I think it’s important for our students and working families to seize on any opportunities that offer assistance to our bright students,” said Raia. “I highly recommend that students across our district apply for the Conference’s prestigious scholarships so they can secure as much assistance as possible.”
This year, the Conference will be awarding four $3,500 scholarships to four current or future college students from New York state. Eligibility will be based on the student’s GPA, interest in pursuing higher education, involvement in the local community, and individual financial needs. The scholarship is open to eligible students residing in the Assembly member’s district. Applications need to be returned to either the Raia’s district or Albany office by 4p.m. on Friday, March 29th.
“Our Conference is very proud of its role in promoting higher education and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and full potential for future success in the global marketplace,” said Raia. “This year’s recipients will be invited to Albany to receive their scholarship awards on Monday, June 3rd, when we’ll celebrate these students’ successes.”
