Raia Salutes the Retiring Choral Director

Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia presented Steven Finch, director of the Huntington Choral Society, with a certificate recognizing and honoring his more than three decades of service to the Huntington Choral Society at their Spring Concert April 14 at Huntington High School.

Since 1984, Finch has directed the chorus in numerous venues including at Carnegie Hall and the Tilles Center. He has worked with prestigious organizations including the Ars Nova Chamber Ensemble in Syracuse, the Washington University Civic Chorus, the Aston Magna Academy in Great Barrington, Maryville College in Missouri, and the Juilliard School in New York City.

At the conclusion of the concert, which was his last appearance as conductor and musical Director, Finch took his last bow to a standing ovation and applause.

“His distinguished career and command of music have earned him the respect of his audiences and colleagues alike,” Raia said.

A meet and Greet for the new director, Dr. Jennifer Miceii,  is planned sometime in May or June.
