Repair Work Planned for Jericho Turnpike

A stretch of Jericho Turnpike from the Nassau County border to Deer Park Road in Huntington is scheduled for repair, the state announced Friday.

The project is one of five involving Long Island state highways scheduled for this year and next, with a total price tag of $30.6 million. Overall, the projects will  resurface and repair 20 miles of roadway.

Work is underway on the first project repairing Glen Cove Road between Helen Street and Cedar Swamp Road in Nassau County.

“Safe and reliable roadways are the lifeblood of our communities and are critical for keeping us economically competitive,” Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said.  “As we lay the groundwork for our post-COVID reconstruction and recovery, projects like these will allow for safer and more efficient travel across Long Island for residents and visitors alike.”

All locations are expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
