Report: Target Workers Reject Union

Workers at the Target store in Huntington Station voted against joining a union, Bloomberg BNA reported Saturday night.

The employees voted on a proposal to join United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500. With 22,000 members, the local says it’s the largest grocery union in New York.

They would have been the only unionized Target store in the United States.

The store opened in October 2013 on the site of the former Huntington Town House after Lowe’s withdrew its plans to build on the lot. It occupies about 150,000 square feet.
