A resident is campaigning to win support for improvements of a park in Huntington Station.
The Town Board is expected to consider a bond to spend up to $1.2 million that would improve conditions of Alfred Walker Memorial Park on West 11th Street.
Amaru Jones, from Leaders of the New School, has been drumming up support through a social media campaign and asking businesses to support the campaign. Several businesses have shown their support through photos and statements on Facebook.
“There’s a lot of parks in town that have been renewed, revitalized. There is a lot of money that’s been allocated to parks every year. It seems that people were overlooking this park,” Jones said. “It has a lot of property. There’s a lot of room for development.”
The board meets Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Town Hall.
