Restaurants Planned at Melville Mall

Excavation and construction is underway on proposed restaurants at the Melville Mall.

Two “pad” buildings–out buildings not connected to the rest of the stores–were approved by the Huntington Planning Board in August, following Zoning Board of Appeals approval.

The proposed restaurants, one about 10,000 square feet and the other about 5,100 square feet, would sandwich a food court.

The large amount of available underused parking spaces was a factor in approving the project.

A walkway from the buildings, which are being built close to Route 110, would extend to the main building.

The mall, which is owned by Federal Realty, includes Uncle Giuseppe’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Field & Stream, Marshall’s and Macy’s Backstage.
