Robotics Competitors Go Machine to Machine

Teams from around Long Island came to Half Hollow Hills West High School Saturday to compete in the seventh FIRST Power Up robotics competition.

This was the seventh annual competition at Half Hollow Hills and drew friends and family who cheered on their teams.

Using robots they’ve constructed and control, teams place milk crates or “power cubes” on large balancing scales to tip the scales and gain ownership. Alliances must use their sense of strategy as they can trade power cubes for power ups, which give them a temporary advantage in the match.

Local teams included Half Hollow Hills and Cold Spring Harbor.
