The South Huntington school district has removed the proposed sale of an athletic field that voters were to consider on May 18.
Dr. David Bennardo, district superintendent, said that a technical issue was discovered with the title to the property that couldn’t be resolved quickly. “Therefore, the property had to be pulled from the market until one particular sliver of the land can be properly identified. It all happened within the past few days but it is definitely off the market now.”
Had voters approved, the plan was to sell the field, which had been used for girls’ softball, for $800,000, to Dena Properties LLC.
Another sale, that of the former teen center across the street from Walt Whitman High School, is still on the ballot.

we live on west 23rd street, it’s a dead end road, what is the future of our 9 houses here. will there be any information, and or surveys regarding our fate. entering and exiting our street is a challenge now, being on a curve/intersection of new york ave. and rt, 110,this street being the only road into the south huntington central softball field that was recently sold to dena properties, please offer us a reply thank you
