Sanin, Cook Get Public Service Union Endorsements

Two candidates for town supervisor have been endorsed by unions representing public service employee  this week.

Gene Cook, who is running on a Stop LIPA party line, posted an endorsement letter from Tuesday night on  Facebook from the Civil Service Employees Association Long Island chapter.

Democrat Sanin was endorsed by the Suffolk chapter of the Association of Municipal Employees.

Cook said, “I will continue to support all of our hardworking men and women in the Town of Huntington, and strive to provide the necessary services they need in order to function at the highest levels to service our community’s businesses and families on a daily basis. There is no higher honor when the employees who you see and work with on a daily basis recognize your commitment not only the employees in the town, but their fellow union members who reside in Huntington.

The AME said of its endorsement of Sanin, “As a devoted leader to her community, Rebecca Sanin puts the people of Huntington first. Every day, Rebecca Sanin helps to get Long Islanders the help they need in her role as President/CEO of the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island. We are confident that as Supervisor, she will put her vision and compassion to work for the people of Huntington, the Suffolk County community at large, and our brothers and sisters in Organized Labor.”

Democratic Town Board candidate Jen Hebert has been endorsed by the Long Island Federation of Labor  and LIUNA-NY, the Laborers International Union.
