Santa and Friends Deliver on Gifts for Hundreds of Kids

Friends of HSLQMore than 400 children received Christmas presents Saturday and got to meet firefighters, a robot and Santa Claus.

“When we started the toy drive our mission was simple, all we wanted was to put a smile on the faces of children in this community,” said Laura Palacios of  Friends of the Huntington Station Latin Quarter, which has sponsored the toy giveaway for 10 years. “With so many parents in the area struggling to make ends meet, we’re thankful to be able to spread some holiday cheer to make it a little easier for them.”

Firefighters from the Huntington Manor Fire Department gave tours of their truck, and a team of robotics students from Huntington High School, showed off their robot to children. In addition to the 451 kids who got presents at the event at the offices of the Palacios Law Group in Huntington Station, the group also distributed gifts to about 20 other kids at homeless shelters.
