School Notes: ATV MX National Champ, Robotics Gift


ATV MX Champ

J. Taylor Finley Middle School eighth grader Tino Abbatiello was honored recently as a
national champion at the American Motorcyclist Association ATV Motorcross annual awards Night ofChampions celebration in Morgantown, W. Va.

The 13-year old  won the national title in the 90 Automatic (8-13) Class division. He
has competed across the country, earning a national reputation.

He is the first ATV Motorcross champion ever from Long Island and he is this year’s only national champion from New York. He has attracted major sponsorships from Pine Bush
Training Facility, Highline Racing, JB Racing and DRR Racing. Local sponsors include Pancho Villas, Roar Organic, Gettinlocal app, Gainmyrewards app, Contour Mortgage and Score Processing.
He plays on the Finley football and basketball teams.

 

Robotics Program Donation

At the November Board of Education meeting, the Cold Spring Harbor school board accepted a donation from the Cold Spring Harbor’s Educational Foundation in the amount of $20,800 for the Senior High School Robotics program.

 

Elwood Students Aid Others

Elwood Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society collected more than 2,200 nonperishables and more than $1,000 in donations for families of the Elwood community during the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. Pictured, from left, are the NHJS class officers Juliet Beuka, Jillian John, adviser Mrs. Wendy Blair-Braxton adviser, Cateyann Bernhard and Grace Motta.Additionally, more than $1,000 was collected to give families of the Elwood community gift cards for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
