University of Vermont

The following local students graduated recently from the University of Vermont:

Holy Cross

Holy Cross celebrated nearly 750 bachelor of arts degree candidates at its 175th Commencement.

The following local students earned degrees:

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a career diplomat and Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, delivered this year’s address virtually to the Class of 2021 and received an honorary degree.

In addition to Thomas-Greenfield, Holy Cross also awarded an honorary degree to Holy Cross alumnus Dr. Michael Collins ’77, chancellor of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and senior vice president for the health sciences for the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Collins also offered a reflection for the Class of 2021.

Bryant University

At Bryant University’s 158th Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 22, 840 graduates of the Class of 2021 and their families and guests gathered on campus to celebrate earning a Bryant degree.

Brenden Femiano of Northport graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in Management.

Natalie Langella of Northport graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology: Pre-Health Track.

University of Alabama

The University of Alabama awarded some 5,860 degrees during its spring commencement ceremonies.

College of Charleston

Alexis Pastorelli, of Huntington recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of Charleston.

Pastorelli was among more than 1,400 students who received degrees.

Wilkes University

Wilkes University awarded nearly 700 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at its 74th spring commencement ceremonies from May 28 to 30. To honor those earning their degrees and accommodate their families, six in-person ceremonies for students receiving doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees were held during Memorial Day weekend.

Nicholas Koumas of Commack received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology.

Georgia Tech

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 4,435 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute’s 260th commencement exercises May 7-8, 2021, at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Kevin Johnson of Huntington (11743) – Master of Science in Computer Science

Viren Sabhnani of Dix Hills (11746) – Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Highest Honors

The Georgia Institute of Technology, or Georgia Tech, is a top 10 public research university developing leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition.

The Institute offers business, computing, design, engineering, liberal arts, and sciences degrees. Its nearly 40,000 students, representing 50 states and 149 countries, study at the main campus in Atlanta, at campuses in France and China, and through distance and online learning.

Colorado College

Matthew Luzincourt of Melville graduated from Colorado College with a Bachelor of Arts in Organismal Biology and Ecology. Luzincourt is a member of the Class of 2021, which was celebrated at an outdoor ceremony on Sunday, May 23, in downtown Colorado Springs.

James Madison University

Cecelia Polvere of Huntington graduated with a degree in music.
Lauren Ragone of Melville graduated with a degree in health sciences.
Zachary Wenzler of Fort Salonga graduated with a degree in engineering.
Emily Dickson of Huntington Station graduated Cum Laude with a degree(s) in biology.
More than 3,600 students received undergraduate, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.

Plymouth State University

Braedon Gold of Northport graduated from Plymouth State University during its 150th Anniversary Commencement Ceremony on May 8, 2021. Gold received a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Gold was among more than 670 Class of 2021 students who received degrees.

Bucknell University

Bucknell University presented degrees to over 800 graduates at Commencement on May 23.

The University’s 171st Commencement took place across three ceremonies spread throughout the day in Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

The following students had degrees conferred during the ceremony:

Union College

More than 470 students in the Class of 2021 filled Union’s Hull Plaza Sunday to celebrate Union’s 227th Commencement.

Those earning degrees were:
