Schools: Students Recognized for Voting Video

Elwood-John H. Glenn High School  seniors Rithika Narayan and Juliana Weber recently won the Huntington League of Women Voters’ virtual civic engagement video contest.

In their video, “The Importance of Voting for High School Students,” Rithika and Juliana explain why young eligible voters need to participate in the upcoming election. They encouraged their peers to head to the polls on Nov. 3, complete an absentee ballot or partake in early voting, available Oct. 24 – Nov. 1.

The seniors, both of whom are enrolled in Laureen Kennedy’s Advanced Placement government and politics course, will  promote a voter registration program. 

Online Adult Education Registration

Virtual classes in the Huntington school district’s adult education and continuing program begin Monday, Oct. 13.

 Registration is ongoing, and all classes will meet with either Zoom or Google Meets platforms.

To view the fall semester’s course bulletin online, log onto the district website at www.hufsd.edu. Go to Main Navigation on the top left and then to School Community; click on Continuing Education. Scroll down to Continuing Education Documents. Select Fall Program Documents. The brochure is posted there and can also be downloaded.

 Online registration is available through Turbo Roster at http://www.TurboRoster.com. Those logging onto the site for the first time will be asked to create a profile by providing the requested information. Once the profile is established click “search” using the word Huntington, then select Huntington UFSD and click register next to the desired class selection. Payment can be made online. Registration is also available by mail or under the awning in front of Huntington High School on Wednesday, September 16 from 6-9 p.m. The registration rain date will be Thursday, September 17 from 6- 9 p.m. Registration for those with last names beginning with a letter from A to K can register between 6:00-7:30 p.m. Those will last names beginning with a letter from L to Z are welcome to register between 7:30-9:00 p.m. Courses run for eight week blocks, unless otherwise indicated in the fall bulletin.
