Schools: Top Students at Half Hollow Hills; New Performance Center

The Elwood School District recently cut the ribbon for the new Elwood-John H. Glenn High School Performing Arts Center.

The ceremony was attended by Superintendent Ken Bossert, the board of education and members of  the Booster Club, PTA, PTA Council and music sponsors. The auditorium renovation was part of Phase 3 of the district’s bond work.

“This is a jewel in the crown, something people will enjoy for the next several generations, and it’s very exciting to share it with all of you who were a big part of the process,” Bossert said. “You were all architects in making it happen, so I wanted you to be among the first to enjoy the new space. I hope that the rest of the community takes advantage and comes to see it as well.”

Honoring Polansky, Paci

The Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education will honor Superintendent James W. Polansky and Dr. James Paci at its Reach for the Stars  gala May 4.

The Huntington Foundation’s annual fundraising party is returning after a COVID-19 related hiatus. Tickets for the gala at The Water’ s Edge  can be purchased here.

“We are thrilled to be back in action, planning our Reach for the Stars gala and celebrating two exceptional leaders in the Huntington community,” new Huntington Foundation President Jennifer Stevens said. “We couldn’t ask for a more ideal fundraising opportunity; two widely respected honorees, an exquisite new location on the North Shore of Long Island and a group of passionate board members and volunteers who are building on HFEE’s legacy and ushering in a new chapter for our organization as we approach our 30th year of supporting Huntington schools.”

The Huntington Foundation has funded over $1.1 million in educator grants in Huntington UFSD since its founding in 1993.
