Honorees included national scholars and finalists in the 2018 Regeneron Science Talent Search, winners of the 2018 Congressional App Challenge and recipients of the 2018 Congressional Award, which recognizes initiative, service, and achievement in young people.

The event was held on Monday, March 4, and featured U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi honoring the national achievements of the students. Max Haot, founder and CEO of Launcher, a Brooklyn-based company that is designing and building a rocket to launch
the new generation of small satellites to orbit, also participated in the ceremony.

“Our district has consistently produced the brightest young talent the nation has to offer. We need to ensure these students can utilize their talents here at home as we strive to brand Long Island as ‘the 495 Research Corridor on High-Tech Island.’ These students are the future of our community and I am excited to honor their achievements,” Suozzi said.

The students honored, who hailed from New York’s Third Congressional District, came from 14 different high schools including, Bethpage High School, Commack High School, Great Neck North High School, Great Neck South High School, Herricks High School, Jericho High School, Manhasset High School, Paul D.
