Second Precinct Commander Moving Up

Inspector Chris Hatton, commander of the Second Precinct, is leaving, promoted to deputy chief of patrol of the Suffolk County Police Department.

June Margolin tipped the news on the Huntington Station Matters page on Facebook.

She quoted him as saying, “Things happen pretty quick in the police department and I just wanted to get a quick message out. I’m being promoted to Deputy Chief of Patrol as of Monday. Basically that means that the Inspectors in the 7 precincts will report to me.”

He will be succeeded by Inspector William Scrima. Hatton said Deptuy Inspector McCormick would remain as second in command of the precinct.

In  2015, Hatton replaced the long-serving Edward Brady, who had retired in July.
