The family of Robert Philip Schmitt Jr. plans a ceremony in his honor on Tuesday. The 32-year member of the Melville Fire department died Tuesday.
He was 54 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Audra, daughter Courtney, father Robert Sr, mother Mildred, sisters Jill Conroy and Sandra Schmitt-Harvey.
He worked as an electrician.
A private wake service is scheduled at M.A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington.
On Tuesday, there will be a safe and social distance service in his name. Those attending will stay in their vehicles for the entire ceremony. The ceremony will be at 1:45 p.m. at Albert Schmitt & Sons Farm – 170 Old East Neck Road, Melville. A public-address system will be used so everyone can hear the service.
