Services Held for Huntington’s Oldest Resident, Rosalia Zona

Funeral services were held Monday for Rosalia Maria Zona, who had turned 108 years old in June.

Known as the  “Queen of Huntington,”  she had celebrated her birthday on June 28 with the help of relatives and friends. Town officials, including Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, the Huntington Manor Fire Department and others had participated in a short parade past her Huntington Station home where she lived for 49 years, and she sang some songs in celebration. She was the oldest resident of Huntington.

She was born June 17, 1912 in New York City, and died Aug. 5. She was mother of Sarah Hawlicek, John Hawlicek, Philip Hawlicek, and the late Franklin Hawlicek,  She leaves behind her house-mate/caregiver, Mary Ann Romano.
