Services are scheduled later this week for William C. Bootz, who served for decades with the East Northport Fire Department.
He died Friday.
The department said that he had held several positions, including lieutenant, captai, commissioner, safety officer, assistant chaplain and chaplain, as well as Santa Claus.
He also worked as a dispatcher before becoming district manager.
Bootz got his start as an EMT in the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps before joining the East Northport department. After retiring from ENFD, he worked for the Eaton’s Neck Fire Department as a district manager.
“Our department deeply mourns his loss and he will never be forgotten,” the department said.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 Thursday at the Brueggmann Funeral Home in East Northport.
The funeral is set Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in East Northport.
