Sini: Huntington Station Resident Indicted in Gang Murder Plot

Guillermo Linares Alvarez, 19, of Huntington Station was one of three alleged 18th Street gang members indicted on charges of conspiring to murder two members of the rival MS-13 gang, Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini said Tuesday.

The three accused, including Wilber Campos Chicas, 25, of Port Jefferson Station, and Isidro Canelas, 26, of Centereach, were charged in an indictment with second-degree conspiracy.

Sini’s office said that between March 15 and April 24, the defendants allegedly took several steps in furtherance of the murder conspiracy, including sharing photos and descriptions of the two targets and their whereabouts. The defendants were allegedly going to use two machetes, which were owned by Linares Alvarez, to murder the two victims. They also allegedly discussed obtaining a car to use while carrying out their attacks.

The three defendants, all of whom entered the United States illegally, were apprehended by HSI agents in April.

Authorities said the plot was discussed in text message and on social media in March and April, but was headed off by agents in the Homeland Security Investigations agency.

Sini said all three suspects were in the country illegally.
