Report: Husband Who Killed Wife in 1987 Granted Parole

A Huntington Station man who has spent 30 years in prison for killing his wife of six weeks has been granted parole, News12 reported Monday.

Matthew Solomon, 54, was convicted of second-degree murder in the strangulation death of  Lisa Weaver Solomon during an argument in their  Huntington Station apartment on Christmas Eve in 1987.

He began serving a term of 18 years to life in 1989. The state Department of Corrections lists him as still in custody at Otisville.

Solomon initially told police his wife had gone for a walk and not returned. Her body was found in a trash bag in a field off Pulaski Road in Huntington Station a few days later.
