Some Jefferson Students, Staff Go Remote After Covid-19 Case

Some students and staff at Jefferson Primary School were directed to work remotely Friday after a student reported having a Covid-19 infection.

Huntington school superintendent James W. Polansky said students in one cohort would go work remotely until further notice, as the Suffolk County Department of Health investigates the case. B ut the school will remain open. Students are divided into cohorts to improve social distancing and reduce the chance of exposure to the virus.

“Thank you, once again, for your ongoing vigilance during a challenging time. I ask that you
continue to monitor your child(ren) for signs of potential illness and accurately complete the
District’s student health screening form each morning prior to their boarding a school bus or
arriving to school on their scheduled in-person attendance days,” Polansky wrote in a letter to the district community.
