Some Town Workers Say Dispensers Removed, Carted to Town Hall

Workers in the Town of Huntington sewer department said Thursday that a town employee had removed hand sanitizer dispensers from their building and said they were being moved to Town Hall.

Town spokeswoman Lauren Lembo flatly denied that that had happened.

But workers supplied photos of walls that they said proved the dispensers had been removed. And one, speaking anonymously because of concern for his job,  said, “Of all workers, we need to be able to keep clean. This tells us that we are not valued by the town, and that the safety of some employees is considered more important than others.”

Another person said that workers had not been provided protocols and work procedures on how to stay safe during the pandemic. One said that workers had complained to the Board of Health and were planning to contact OSHA.
