Sorrentino Thanksgiving Food Giveway to Continue With Drive-Through

With the holiday season approaching and many Huntington residents out of work because of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Sorrentino family plans to continue its Thanksgiving food giveway this year.
The Sorrentino Family Foundation will move its huge annual turnout into a drive-through giveaway of turkeys and other foods to help the community. Dozens of volunteers and supporters also turn out, with firefighters, Scouts, police officers, elected officials and others pitching in.
Last year, Andre Sorrentino said, more than 3,000 received food. This year, the giveaway is likely to be smaller. To reduce the number of people gathered at the same time in one spot, Sorrentino said the giveaway will run throughout the day Monday, Nov. 23.
Sorrentino said the foundation recently ran an online fundraiser, but is seeking more monetary donations, which can be mailed to the foundation at 627 New York Ave., Huntington, 11743. They are also seeking donations of turkeys that can be dropped off the day of the giveway.
