Squall Leaves Snow as Arctic Temperatures Move In to Area

Update: PSEG-LI reported  that 977 customers were out of power in Huntington as of about 8 p.m. Restoration of service was expected by 2:30 a.m.
Just in time for rush-hour traffic,  a squall left snow on the ground Wednesday afternoon.   Winds are expected to remain at about 25 MPH, with gusts as high as 46 MPH. Thursday should be sunny and cold, with a high near 16 but with the wind chill factor could feel as cold as 15 below.
The gusts of wind  Wednesday afternoon blew several bags of garbage out into the eastbound lanes of Jericho Turnpike.
