Steakhouse, Cocktail Bar Join Dining Lineup

A Brazilian steakhouse and a cocktail bar have opened their doors in Huntington recently, adding South American flavor to the diverse dining experience.

The Last Word, which features cocktails and Peruvian plates, had its ribbon cutting last week. The Wall Street business is owned by two Huntington men, Matt Sanchez and  Jeff Alvarado.

Fogo de Chão, a chain with restaurants throughout the US, opened Monday at the Walt Whitman Shops, in the space previously occupied by Legal Seafoods. The company was founded in Brazil in 1979.

It specializes in  churrasco – roasting high-quality cuts of meat over an open flame.

Two other restaurants have closed recently. Island Empanada on West Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, and Crave Bakery in downtown Huntington have shuttered their doors.
