Suffolk County to Recognize Youth Volunteers

As part of the inaugural Suffolk County Youth Week May 16-23, the county will recognize young people ages 9-18 who went above and beyond in helping their community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community service to be recognized could include any COVID-19 relief efforts such as distribution of food, toiletries, face-coverings, etc.

The awards will be given out May 19 in a drive-through presentation at the H. Lee Dennision Building, 100 Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 7.

The county will be hosting other events to celebrate and assist young people during that week, including:

Monday, May 17, 5PM Youth Aspirations: Youth Works

A workshop to prepare Suffolk County Youth for summer job employment opportunities and more. Employers will be available to handle applications and interviews.

Saturday, May 22 Day of Service

Young people and youth groups may sign up to tie a ribbon on the Suffolk County COVID-19 Memorial in honor of those who lost their fight to this disease. Events will be held at the William H. Rogers Legislature Building in Hauppauge and the Evans K. Griffing Building in Riverhead.
