Suffolk County reported the highest number of new Covid-19 deaths at 14, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday, with a statewide total of 128.
“We are on an unsustainable trajectory and if we don’t act now, hospitals could become overwhelmed in January,” Cuomo said. “Right now, New York is focused on growing hospital capacity through our Surge and Flex program and requiring hospital systems to begin working together so they are prepared. As those operations continue, it’s on all of us to be smart, tough, and do what we know stops the spread—socially distance, wear masks and wash our hands. The goal is to avoid another shutdown and we will only be able to do that if we all do our part.”
Long Island continues to show the smallest percentage of available hospital beds at 20 percent.

- 487 individuals were hospitalized, an increase of 11 in 24 hours
- 51 were new admissions
- 78 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), an increase of 2 in 24 hours
- 30 patients were in the ICU and intubated
- 33 were discharged since the last report
- 6,922 have been discharged since March 22
