Many Huntington parents are busy looking for just the right camp for their children this summer. If you’re in need of some choices, here’s some information to help you make your decision.

Kenwal Day Camp

Kenwal Day Camp is located in Melville on 20 acres of greenery accented by the finest summer day camp facilities and equipment to ensure every camper, ages 3 to 15, hours of enjoyment, fun and exciting events. We are a short drive from the following areas: Commack, Plainview, Syosset, Woodbury, Jericho, Dix Hills, Huntington, Melville, East Northport, Farmingdale and the South Shore.

With Pre School and Kindergarten Summer Programs, First though Fourth grade, as well as Senior and Teen Camp Programs, we have camp activities for every child, ensuring a great camp experience for all. Our summer camp activities include an inflatable water park, mini golf, arts & crafts, sports, theater, dance, swimming, zip lines go karts, rope rappelling, karate and so much more. Camp W Day Camp

Camp W day camp “Where Friendships Are Made” located in Melville, offers children a safe, action packed schedule of activities. Campers ages 4-14 participate in athletics, swimming, creative arts and many other unique activities such as how to be a dj, robotics, game room, cooking, camp lounge and so much more. Campers can choose from 2-8 weeks of Camp W. Transportation, Early Care/Late Care and hot lunch are all available.

Regular camp hours are from 8:45 am until 3:30 pm. Early Care begins at 7:30 and Late Care ends at 6:00 pm. Special Events, professional camp entertainment and team building exercises are weekly occurrences at camp. Groups have a maximum of 15 campers with at least two staff members in each group. Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts

Celebrating its 51st season in 2019, Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts is one of the nation’s preeminent not-for-profit summer day-school for the arts. Its mission is to provide children with the foundation to sustain a lifetime interest in the arts — realized through instruction by a world-class faculty and the camaraderie of fellow students who share their love of the arts.
Usdan has been declared a “Best Of” camp by TimeOutNY/Kids, and by NY Metro Parents and been profiled in The New York Times and in Time Magazine. Each summer, some 1,600 students, ages 4 – 18, travel daily by air conditioned bus from neighborhoods across Long Island and the New York City area to Usdan’s beautiful 140-acre woodland campus in Huntington. The camp offers 100 programs of study in Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Art, Nature and Gardening, Creative Writing, and Chess, as well as Recreational Arts programs including Swim, Quidditch, Tennis, Yoga and more. Students also attend Usdan’s daily series of Festival Concerts, presented by distinguished artists from around the world.

Huntington Camp Bright Star

Special needs families are invited to apply for Camp Bright Star, the Town of Huntington’s summer day camp for children and teens with special needs.

“What makes us so unique and special is that we are a small camp. Camp Bright Star is a family where everyone feels accepted, respected and welcomed,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “Under the leadership of Camp Director Serena Kindler, we have an excellent team that is dedicated to provide the best care to each individual camper.”

New applicants should submit the Town’s application by Wednesday, May 1.

The cost is $270 with a Resident Recreation ID card and $600 without a card, Transportation is provided for Huntington residents. Non-residents can access the bus transportation by dropping the camper off at a scheduled bus stop in Huntington.

Camp Bright Star’s 2019 program operates from Tuesday, July 2 through Friday, August 9 at Oakwood Primary School in South Huntington. The camp also offers trips that families often look forward to their children experiencing. Program hours are 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Camp will be closed on Independence Day, Thursday, July 4.

If the potential camper will be accompanied by a paraprofessional, or “shadow,” applicants must call the Parks and Recreation Department at (631) 351-3094 for specific instructions. All requests must be made no later than Friday, May 10.

South Huntington School District

South Huntington summer camps

The South Huntington School District offers a variety of summer camps for students entering grades K-8. The 2019 Wildcat Summer Camps are open for registration.

Please note that some of our summer camps are half-day programs and can be combined with The Wildcat Sports Camp to make it a full-day program experience! For 2019, all programs are held at Walt Whitman High School, 301 West Hills Rd., unless otherwise noted.
